Pool Party

Over the last two weeks we have been working on re-landscaping Mom's back yard. Between our working we have retreated to Granny's house for a dip in the pool. Here are a few pics of the swimming. I have neglected to take pictures of the landscape project but will fully document this later for your enjoyment.Kaylee loves her seal/dolphin and also as many noodles as she can manage to keep away from the rest of us.
The goggles are an absolute must have so that no splashes get in her eyes, not that she goes underwater unless by accident.

Happy Sunday!!

We had a happy Father's Day in our neck of the woods. On Sunday Mom, Kaylee, Celeste, Jason, and I all went to G'ma Mace's house so that we could have a barbecue. It got a little warm and we all ended up in the shade around the pool cooling our feet and chatting for a while. Here are a cute pics that I wanted to share with you.

Such a beautiful day!

I was coming home from work earlier this week and thus sun was setting. I kept thinking of Minna, aka Melinda Rich, and how we would take ever so many pictures of beautiful sunsets on the Kaibab. So lately I have been carrying my camera with me because you never know when you will have a great picture to take. Anyways, past my tangent now, I pulled over and stopped next to... you will never guess... the cemetery and took a couple pics. I was too late to get the most vivid color but you can't just stop in the middle of the highway just for a great photo opportunity, that is if you care for life or car. It is amazing how God has created so many wonderfully beautiful things.

Yes, I am up to date?!

Well, since I have slacked off a bit with my frequent updating and story telling this will be a conglomeration of many events that have happened in the last few weeks.
Highlight #1:
Kaylee Anne has come to sleep-over at my house twice now. She loves it and thinks that it is a special treat. Most importantly she thinks that she rules the roost. The pics attached are from her first trip over. She didn't want to go home on the next morning so we went outside and worked in the yard for a little bit. She had to pick several bouquets of pink flowers from my tree. She also had to investigate what was in the garage.
Highlight #2
Kaylee's first skinned knee of the season happened on Mother's Day when Aunt Blondie and Kaylee went out for a walk from Granny Mace's house and we were collecting flowers for the frosting, thus inspired by Strawberry Shortcake. Kaylee got excited and took at tumble on the ever so crooked sidewalks of Kaysville and Aunt Blondie ended up carrying the "little" one for about a block until we could get home to get the damage mended.
Highlight #3
Mom and I went to the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday, scrumpdiddillyumptious. Then, to Mom's disappointment, the Mediterranean Mahi Mahi was not being served due to the e-coli and salmonella problems that they are having with fresh tomatoes. So a new dish was ventured upon and the Bang Bang Chicken & Shrimp has now become the #2 favorite for our adventures the
to this sanctimonious location.
Nothing else too splendorous has been happening except I have been devouring books right and left, as long as they are leisure related items. I will post more news soon but for now this is all that I can dream up that is of great importance and noteworthy.
(side note-- I did get my hair cut and highlighted and it is amazing how that makes me feel absatively posilutely brilliant.)

"Did the doctor give you a bandaid for your medicine?"

How do you explain to my cute little 3 year old niece that your tummy just isn't being very happy and we don't understand why? As I was trying to explain to Kaylee why I was so lethargic and wasn't my normal, playful self, she chimes in with the fact that we see different doctors and how I need to go to the doctor again and he will make me all better. Best of all, I was told that I needed a bandaid and it would make everything all better. Childhood is so sweet and innocent. The idea that a small token of a sticky bandaid or a kiss on the boo boo will make everything all better.

The drama of Catherine-dom continues. Mom and I went to the ER on Thursday because I was having an episode of unexplainable retardation. If nothing else this little retardation gave me a day off from work. I know, I know... the idea is to take a day off and do something fun.

The weather is beautiful outside and I am loving the flowers all around. Life is wonderful and complex. I sat out on the front porch this evening and savored the warm air with the hint of lilacs that wafted past on the gentle breeze. Spending these relaxing moments helps to put the chaos back into perspective.

Engergizer Babies...

Spring has come and so has my cute family from Arizona to visit. Can I tell you how much I look forward to Women's Conference?! It is not the spiritual insight that I am seeking but the quality one on one time I get to spend with Emma & Eli. These two little rascals, combined with Kaylee, are such a delight. We even had a sleep over because Amy stayed in Provo one night due to gas prices and travel time. Wow how these kids can go and go and go again. My favorite little tid bit was when we had snow. It was too warm for it to stay around and Emma was so disappointed that it stopped. However, the rest of us who were freezing, were happy when the warm air returned.

Random Ramblings

It is amazing that the only time I schedule off from work lately has been to be "ill." I have degenerative disc disease in my cervical vertebrae along with the other multitude of problems....no big surprise. I keep wondering what exactly the point of this whole process is but then I get a little too self focused and have trouble keeping myself going.

Today was epidural injection #2. I had one about 4 weeks ago and they use a fluoroscopic technique to inject you with localized cortisone to the inter-vertebral discs that are causing trouble. I have to take the day off work and stay down, not that I mind taking time off from work, but I really need to take time off work to play to do something fun....not to go to the doctor for a little torture. Truthfully it isn't too painful. I have had an epidural catheter once for a week and it was much more painful because the thing was in there for so long and also because they don't numb you as well as they do during this procedure.

After the injections I spend the day with Kaylee and Celeste. Kaylee always asks if my ouchy in my neck is better. Today she said, "Aunt Blondie, did the Shrek doctor give you some medicine for your neck?" The Shrek doctor, who I work with, is the one who glued her shut when she cut her leg open last month on the cheese grater when she fell of the counter while helping Celeste make dinner. I see a completely different doctor at a different office but she is still remembering the Shrek doctor because he was nice and didn't give her any pokie's.

The last injection went well, but today I don't feel so hot. I don't know what my problem is but then again I cannot be a textbook case, per the usual forte. Anyways, it snowed again today and I am hoping for a great change in weather so that we can officially appreciate Spring and I can do a little yard work.
